Pricing

Pricing of the service is based on:

1. A once-off licence fee which allows us to recover our investment in software and support enhancements.
2. Any special configuration required by ourselves at £600 per day.
3. Hosting (see below)
4. Support covers any questions, small changes, fixing problems outside warranty, software upgrades where required and generally looking after the client. It does not cover major items of work (say more than an hour or two) which would be quoted for.

The following gives some guidance on the order of magnitude involved, but please discuss projects with us before quoting to a client. We assume that the designer will produce html templates of the main page types. We can produce the HTML but it will impact the budget.

• Small site: say less than 100 pages one level of navigation and with no search function
• Large site: more than 100 pages, two levels of navigation, search and user registration
• Small ecommerce site: Less than 200 products or less than 10 orders per day
• Large ecommerce sites:: More than 200 products or more than 10 orders per day

Support

We strongly recommend that designers quote a small support retainer for their clients except for basic web sites. A web site is not like getting a brochure printed. The environment is constantly changing and customers are always coming up with small questions or changes. Frankly, because we are in the business of supporting you - the designer, we end up providing support whether there is a retainer or not. The only difference is we get quite grumpy about it!

For ecommerce sites a support retainer is always required.

Discounts

We want repeat business! So we discount our prices as follows.

Hosting

The following table lists our prices for hosting (monthly). We bill you the discounted price and suggest you bill your client the recommended price. If you would rather we bill your client direct we would charge the recommended price. In practice for the smaller hosting packages we normally bill quarterly to save on administration.

We can supply a virtual server which will allow you to host your clients sites. We use Plesk which gives you a control panel and you can set up brochure sites yourself.

We suggest that customers use the leading UK-based registration company 123-reg. Click on this link to open an account.

Note that 123-reg offer hosting services but while these are perfectly good for a brochure web site we are not able to run our content management system or ecommerce system on their servers. So please do not order hosting if you plan to run our content management system
